About the Teacher
Originally from New York City, graduated from Aviation High School in 1972. Joined the US Air Force in 1973 and spent 20 years as an Avionics Specialist, Supervisor, Trainer, and four years as an Academic Instructor at the Tactical Air Command’s Non-Commissioned Officer Academy teaching military science, communication skills, and leadership management. Traveled and worked while being stationed in Germany, Oklahoma, Texas, and finally Washington State.
Retired from the Air Force in 1993 and started working on a second career in public transportation as a paratransit driver and then as a dispatcher for Intercity Transit in Olympia, Washington. During this time I was also the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) coordinator, trainer, and assessor for the paratransit clients and drivers.
Attended school part time with St. Martins University to get a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, and then teacher certification in Business Education. While student teaching with Yelm Middle School, instructed Business Applications and Administrative job skills to adults in the evenings with Business Computer Technical Institute (BCTI). Completed a Masters program online with University Of Phoenix.
Have been employed as the Computer Applications Teacher at Elma High School since 1997. I presently teach Computer Applications at the high school and middle school. I am also the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) adviser for the high school. Served as the FBLA regional adviser for 18 high schools with over 500 members and 30 school advisers and presently a member of the National FBLA Board. I am also an adjunct professor with Ashford University teaching online undergraduate classes.
